Required Roof Conditions for Infrared Flat Roof Moisture Survey

From Jersey Infrared Consultants

The requirements listed below are based on current industry standards, including those published by ASTM, RCI and Infraspection Institute. Compromising on any of these requirements may adversely affect the results of the Infrared Flat Roof Moisture Survey.

Dry Roof Membrane:

The roof membrane must be dry at Sunrise. Areas that had moisture at Sunrise may not have enough solar loading to show the necessary thermal patterns. Since an infrared imager cannot “see through water”, any areas with the presence of ice, snow, or standing water cannot be surveyed.

Solar Loading:

The day of the Survey should be a mostly sunny day, providing good solar loading. A general rule of thumb is if the roof surface or a nearby similar surface (i.e. parking lot, street or sidewalk) is warm to the touch, the roof will be warm.

IR Body Temperature Screening Distance Learning Course

By the Infraspection Institute

Infrared Body Temperature Screening is a 5 unit theory and application course for the use of thermal imaging to detect elevated body temperature in humans.

This is a specialized course focused on a single application.

Course is equivalent to a five hour classroom course with a two hour period allotted for the online exam at the end of the course. Course completion may be applied toward training requirements for Infraspection Institute Level I, II, or III thermographer certification.

This course covers infrared theory, heat transfer concepts, equipment operation and selection, current regulations, standards compliance, screening area setup and procedures, adjunctive equipment, and safety issues.

For more details including pricing, visit: https://infraspection.com/product/ir-body-temperature-screening-distance-learning/

The Infraspection Institute is the oldest independent infrared training and infrared certification firm in the world. Founded in 1980, Infraspection Institute has trained and certified over 10,000 thermographers worldwide.

With 40 years in business, Infraspection Institute literally pioneered the infrared training industry. During their long history, they have shaped the infrared industry through training, technical consulting, technical publications, research, standards development, and software publishing.

Their mission is to support practicing thermographers with educational, certification and support services. They provide timely, accurate and unbiased information about infrared hardware, applications and program development. They are deeply committed to the global advancement of thermography as a science and a profession.

IR spectral characterization of customer blackbody sources:

"First calibration results"

A paper by S. Mekhontsev, M. Noorma, A. Prokhorov, and L. Hanssen from NIST in the USA, Presented at Thermosense XXVIII, ed. by Jonathan J. Miles, G. Raymond Peacock, and Kathryn M. Knettel, Proc. of SPIE 6205, 620503 (2006).

ABSTRACT:
We summarize recent progress in our infrared (IR) spectral radiance metrology effort. In support of customer blackbody characterization, a realization of the spectral radiance scale has been undertaken in the temperature range of 232 °C to 962 °C and spectral range of 2.5 µm to 20 µm. We discuss the scale realization process that includes the use of Sn, Zn, Al and Ag fixed-point blackbodies (BB), as well as the transfer of the spectral radiance scale to transfer standard BBs based on water, Cs and Na heat pipes. Further we discuss the procedures for customer source calibration with several examples of the spectral radiance and emissivity measurements of secondary standard BB sources. For one of the BBs, a substantial deviation of emissivity values from the manufacturer specifications was found. Further plans include expansion of the adopted methodology for temperatures down to 15°C and building a dedicated facility for spectral characterization of IR radiation sources.
